Cascate del Gorello

The age-old properties of its thermal water make Terme di Saturnia the perfect place to regenerate the body and comfort the soul. At the ‘Cascate del Gorello’, the carbonic-sulphuric-boric water, at a constant temperature of 37.5°C, have formed a series of natural white pools and people come all year round to bathe here. The ‘Cascate del Gorello’ is free of charge.

If a little more luxury and pampering is desired, the Terme di Saturnia Spa Resort nearby offers an enormous variety of health and beauty treatments.

The acronym SPA (Salus Per Aquam) was coined by the Romans, the first people to make thermal springs not just a place for the body’s well being but also a centre of spiritual pleasure. Saturnia was already well known and appreciated in Roman times.

Besides the thermal springs, Saturnia is also famous for being the birthplace of two famous Tuscan painters: Pietro Aldi (1852-1888) and Paride Pascucci (1866-1954).
