The old Convent of the Order of the Passionist Fathers was built in 1733 by San Paolo della Croce di Ovada. It is located high in the hills of Monte Argentario between Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano facing the Orbetello lagoon and the mainland. The Convent has a wonderful setting being surrounded by hundreds of hectares of natural woodland with no other houses in sight.
If you continue up the road beyond the Convent, you pass the cross of Monte Argentario (a huge 20 metre iron cross that is illuminated at night) and after approximately 4 km you will eventually come to Punta Telegrafo (635 metres), the highest point on the Argentario peninsula.
